There is a bit of a buzz going round at the moment and it’s not someone taking the Vespa from the E-P5 exclusive Harrods kit for a joy ride. It is simply that there are a lot of special Olympus events being organised in London and at retailers during September.

Both camera uses same 16.1 megapixel High-Speed Live MOS Sensor and Olympus’ TruePic VI image-processing engine.

Image Stabilization

Both camera  features sensor-shift type 5-Axis Image Stabilization , the 5 Axis stands for camera shake on 5 separate axes: yaw, pitch, roll, vertical shift and a horizontal shift.

AF system

Both camera uses Frequency Acceleration Sensor Technology (F.A.S.T.) AF in Single, Continuous and Tracking modes is available for high speed autofocus.

Panasonic GH3 vs Olympus E-M5 vs Fujifilm X-E1

Fujifilm X-E1 Image compared with Panasonic GH3 and Olympus E-M5, the Fujifilm X-E1 High ISO performance is better compared to GH3 and E-M5.  The fujifilm comes with 16.3 MP APS-C X-Trans CMOS Sensor and Standard Range to ISO6400 and Extended Range to ISO25600.

Both Pansonic GH3 and E-M5 features smaller 4/3 sensor  with 16 MP resolution.

ephotozine done a High ISO comparison test between Olympus E-M5 and Panasonic GH3, Both camera was using Panasonic Leica DG Macro-Elmarit 45mm f/2.8 ASPH OIS Lens and ISO at 1600 and other settings set to Auto (AE & AWB), The Olympus E-M5 JPEG output streight from camera is more clear and sharper compared to Panasonic GH3.

Low-Light performance and Dynamic range

From the specification comparison it is clear that Fujifilm X-Pro1 have big APS-C size sensor and 16 megapixel resolution , the Sony NEX 7 have a high resolution 24.3 megapixel APS-C sensor and Olympus OMD EM-5 have small 4/3 format sensor with 16 megapixel resolution.

From the specification comparison it is clear that Fujifilm X-Pro1 will perform better in low-light condition, bigger the pixel is, the lower the noise : The size of the photodiode and this has a big impact on the dynamic range and low light performance.

Video Performance

Sony NEX7 offers Full HD at 60 and 24 fps, Olympus EM-5 also offer Full HD at 60 fps (but no 24fps) and Fuji X Pro-1 Full HD video recording limited to 24 fps only.

ISO-12800The Fujifilm X-Pro1 JPEG from camera look clear and usable upto ISO  3200, Sony NEX 7 performance is also good but I am really disappointed by Olympus EM-5 High ISO performance.

Conclusion: Fujifilm X-Pro1 and Sony NEX 7 both are excellent performer, buy any one of them.
