Panasonic - We will never give up Micro Four Thirds

Will Panasonic continue to develop the M4/3 system cameras and lenses in same pace even after the announcement of Panasonic S1 and S1R ? It’s really a big question for now, since for for next year or two they do have a schedule / roadmap for next generation of M4/3 cameras, but once they get more involved with FF mirrorless systems. We may see delay in schedule updates of G series cameras and lenses.

At an interview Photokina 2018 Panasonic representatives said

It’s still a big part of our business. We will never give up Micro Four Thirds“:

Well that’s really cool, and we do expect and hope that Panasonic should always keep his focus on its M4/3 format cameras.

Camera makers to make promises

But if you look at Past we have seen delay in updates of Sony SLT series camera, Sony APC SLT camera A77II announced back on 2014 and even after 4 years we are not having its update. The camera is now completely outdated, people who invested in Sony SLT systems are now migrated to E-Mount or Fuji X series cameras.

Only future will tell, we hope that they continue to put the same effort even after announcement S1 series FF Mirrorless camera.

Panasonic finally announced that 2 full frame mirrorless camera today, the name of the camera is the Panasonic S1 and Panasonic S1 R. the Panasonic S1 features 24 megapixel full frame CMOS sensor, and Panasonic S1R features 47 megapixel full frame sensor.

As we have told you earlier both camera carries full frame sensor and features L mount. both camera also have 5 Axis image stabilization system, and they also features dual Axis image stabilization system.

Panasonic S1

Interesting and BRAND NEW features upcoming Panasonic S1 and S1R full frame mirrorless camera

both camera features Panasonic homegrown 24 megapixel and 47 megapixel sensor.
Panasonic S1 and S1 are the two world first full frame mirrorless camera to feature dual Axis image stabilization feature.

2. World’s first*1 support for 4K 60p/50p video recording in a full-frame Digital Single Lens Mirrorless camera
3. One of the best thing is they have included the Dual card slots XQD memory cards and SD memory cards, A feature that Canon and Nikon recently announced full frame mirrorless system cameras are missing.
4. A double slot for XQD memory cards and SD memory cards: a first for Panasonic
5. On the real side of both the recently announced camera we do have a fully articulated tilting touchscreen that will give you a compositional freedom when you are creating a video or shooting a still..
6. and one of the most important thing to be noted about the announcement is that they have found a Alliance of three companies and one of them are Sigma. As we all know Sigma is very reputated for creating high quality glasses so Sigma is also supporting the recent l Mount camera announcement and they are also partner of Panasonic and Leica. So, we can except some high quality L-mount near future from Sigma.

Alongside the two cameras, three lenses are also coming: a 50mm F1.4, a 24-105mm zoom and a 70-200mm 2.8. It has also says it will introduce more than ten lenses before the end of 2020.

The official announcement of these cameras are expected next year.
