Canon 16-60mm F2-5 for APS-C Mirrorless

Canon Working on 3.75X optical zoom / 16-60mm lens for APS-C mirrorless system. The Lens will have wide angle coverage of 16mm. The lens carries improved optics and features ultra-bright F2 aperture at wide end. Take a look at the patent details below

We do have high hopes that Canon EOS M5 Mark II on its way and along with that we will sure see some new lenses for Canon EF-M Mount. APS-C DSLR users don’t lose hope, Canon is actively working on new versions of EF-S Lenses.

    What a bizzarely weird aperture range. Most zooms with variable aperture cover 1 stop, this nearly 3 stops. Surely a much better choice would be 16-60 f/2.8-4. BTW they also had patents for 2 other variations none of which seemed attractive, much like this.

    Lenses are generally never that accurate about their focal length(s) or aperture ranges. And Tstops are much more accurate than f-stop, anyway. And then there’s what focus breathing can do to your angle of view compared to your focal length. It’s all a mess.

    The normal aperture range for this type and class of lens would be f/3.5-5.6, anyway, so this is a big improvement.
